The Job Search Rut

For many skilled professionals, it is easy to become firmly stuck in a job hunting rut. With endless Google searches, hundreds of job descriptions and hours spent in front of the computer, it is easy to become disillusioned and complacent when finding the perfect job begins to seem impossible. Whether you are in-between roles, looking for a change or unfulfilled in your current position, getting into a job search limbo is easy, but getting out can be much more difficult. So, where do you go from here?

  • Assign your time

Allocating time carefully when it comes to job searching allows you to stay focused and keep the momentum going, without falling into procrastination holes, or spending hour upon hour scrolling through job boards. Put no more than one hour aside each day to hone your job hunt style and stay on track.

  • Focus your search

The medical aesthetics industry is a vast one, and is ever-growing and evolving. Take time to think about the ideal role you are looking for, as well as your key skills and areas of expertise. Focus on the roles that match your skills and expertise. If you’re still unsure, talk to those already in the industry, connect with key individuals on LinkedIn and attend networking events.

  • Open your mind

Focusing too heavily on a niche job market can limit your options. By staying open minded to new opportunities and expanding your search parameters, you might find a role you would never have considered before that meets all of your requirements.

  • Evaluate your strategy

If you find yourself stuck in a rut, it’s time to go back to the drawing board and find out why our current job hunting strategy isn’t working for you. By chatting with friends, colleagues or mentors, it could be that they are able to identify new techniques in your job hunt, or offer alternative routes.

  • Talk to the professionals

SJ Partnership works with skilled candidates within the medical aesthetics sector, matching them to sought-after roles with companies around the country. Simply send us a copy of your CV and we’ll chat you through the roles we currently have available, and which of them might suit your skills and areas of expertise.
